Last week we had a good time visiting friends a
nd family in San Diego. Eli had fun at Grandma and Grandpa Thompson's because they let him play the piano and the guitar. He's definitely a future a rock star!
He also enjoyed being the center of attention at Buca di Beppo's when we went out to eat wit
h family. It was there that we discovered his love of lemons, thanks to Jen (he would have eaten the peel if we let him).
On Monday, Matt met with his Dr. to go over MRI results. The MRI showed exactly what we didn't want to see. He has a pretty bad herniated disc in his lower back. The Dr. was surprised that he had any motor skills left in his legs at this time. The Dr. was doubtful that physical therapy would be of use in this situation.
So now we prepare for surgery. In about a week or so, Matt gets things started with an epidural to relieve the pain (Kelly asked if she gets to watch the needle go in) Then we need to find a good surgeon. Hopefully the surgery will be complete by the end of this month. This means that Matt is not expected to go back to work for a couple more months!!!

Matt, sorry to hear about your back. We hope everything goes well with your surgery. We will be praying for you.
Kelly, we hope that you can tolerate having Matt home for so long :)
Feel better Matt!!! We are praying for you and hope that you find a good surgeon and get back to "normal" as soon as possible.
So you are getting an epidural, huh? I have seen how they do that on those baby shows on TLC... good luck!!! Kenny can't even think about a needle that big without passing out! :)
Keep us updated with everything and let us know if you need anything. Love you all!
P.S. I have a video of Eli with the lemon. Hopefully I will post in on our blog soon. The video isn't great, but he is just too funny chowing down on the lemon.
Thanks for the prayers you guys!
Jen-I can't wait to see the video of Eli with the lemon.
We are praying for you too Matt. Have you had your epidural yet?
It was good to see you guys last weekend. Too bad we couldn't visit more, but it was so loud in the restaurant.
Eli is such a good baby, you two should be proud. It was fun seeing him in action in real life instead of just in photos!
Keep us informed on Matt's upcoming surgery plans and let us know how we can help!
