Catching Up

Ok, so no promises, but we will try to keep everyone up to date with what is new at the Aceves home. Since this is the first "update" I guess it will be longer to get everyone caught up.

Eli will be 9 months old on August 8th (this is still a shocker to us) He has been crawling for almost 2 months now and keeps getting faster.... especially when he is going somewhere that he shouldn't be going. He can stand up pretty well as long as he has something to balance on and he only walks with the help of furniture or something else to hold onto. He especially likes to scoot the kitchen chair across the tile dining room floor.

He is very intersted in bugs, cords, electric outlets, stereo equipment and the contents of cabinets and drawers (this keeps mama very busy!)

Eli loves to talk, but his recognizable vocabulary is limited. He is very social and he says "Hi" to any new people that he sees. He also says "duck" (he loves his rubber ducky) and "dada" (although we're not sure how purposeful this one is because he says it all the time). He also does a couple baby signs.

At Matt's insistence, Kelly gave Elijah his first hair cut. We couldn't resist giving him one final mohawk before the trim.

Eli enjoys being independent, especially when it comes to feeding himself. Keeping true to his heritage, he likes to eat beans. And as we recently discovered, he loves spaghetti. It's amazing that most of it made it in his mouth.

Our little man also discovered that his chubby fingers fit perfectly into his tiny nostrils. Sometimes he attempts two at a time, one for each nostril. This is especially embarrassing in public. Oh well, what can you do?

He is also quite the camera ham. All you have to do is pull out a camera and he brings on the cheese. I've never seen another baby master a smile this cheesy. He also uses this to get attention...and it usually works. You can't help but laugh.



Overall, Eli is a total boy. He loves to wrestle, eat dirt (and the occasional spider) and make growling noises.

Well, we could say so such more, but that is enough about Eli for now.

Matt is still stationed in South Central LA and he loves it. His biggest hobby is transforming his 4x4 Toyota Tacoma into an off-roading machine.

Kelly is still at home with Eli, where there is never a dull moment. She also keeps busy with playgroups and projects.
