Kelly has had it with changing poopy diapers and decided that Eli should begin potty training. The first step was, of course, getting a video for Eli that show's Elmo going potty. It features lots of songs and even a potty dance! It sounds kinda silly, but Eli usually imitates Elmo so we figured it was worth a try. Next Kelly went to the library looking for a book to help with potty training. It wasn't tough deciding on which book to get. I mean c'mon "Toilet Training in Less than a Day"...who wouldn't be interested!!! The next step, choosing a potty seat, was the most complicated. We actually bought one from Wal-Mart, brought it home and assembled it and then let Eli sit on it. Only one problem...the little splash guard (the part that keeps
boys from making a mess) was way to small. Actually, it acted more like a shelf that aimed him directly forward...at me (Kelly) I immediately put his diaper back on and packed up the potty before he even had a chance. Next I tried a little Elmo seat that fits on the big toilet. This didn't work for a couple reasons. First, since Eli is a little younger than most potty-trainers, it was hard for him to get up on the toilet. Second, he realized that the splash guard on the Elmo seat was removable. Plus, he wasn't interested in going pee-pee in the big potty. OK, so then Kelly finally did some research and we ended up with the Baby Bjorn potty chair. When she got home, she placed Eli on the potty seat and he immediately went pee-pee. Yipee!!! Success at last!!! Eli was so proud when he did pee-pee on the potty that he di
d it 3 more times that afternoon (and kept his diaper dry) and even suprised us with a poo-poo. I'm hoping this means that he will be easy to potty train. (This is probably the part where all you moms laugh at me for using "easy" and "potty-train" in the same sentence) Sorry for boring you all with these details...but this is the type of excitement that life is filled with :)

Great job Eli! We hope that his potty training will continue to be easy. Good luck!
Yaaaay, Eli! Good work, Mom, he sounds like a natural! (Heehee)
Congratulations Eli!!! We are proud of you... good luck with the training Kelly. I'm sure he will pick it up fast :)
oh kelly, you are so green!!! Just joking! What a big kid Eli is becoming. You SHOULD be awfully proud. Both my kids have used the same potty seat and with much success (well, we're in the process with Mason, but so far he definitely prefers the potty to the toilet). You may be well on your way. Hurray!
Eli has been doing great! We are so proud of him. He barely has poopy diapers anymore, mostly just some wet diapers now and then! AND he also stopped taking his bottle. He now only drinks from sippy cups or uses straws. Does this mean he's not a baby anymore? :(
WOW! Eli's a little pottie monster :)
Next he'll be riding a two-wheel bike, what a man!
Love you guys!
Such fun memories you are making! Potty traing is a special time for all! Be sure to enjoy it while you can. :)
