As always, Eli continues to amaze us with all of the new things that he is learning. He has mastered climbing and especially loves to climb onto his cars (the kind you push with your feet) and stand on the seat. He then applauds himself!
His communication is also improving. He decided that he is going to start using the baby signs that we have been trying to teach him for a while. He now signs milk, please, more and all-done. Besides signing, he is learning how to say more words too. Last week he finally learned how to say "no"! He mostly says it when he is doing something (or thinking about doing something) that he is not supposed to be doing! He is getting better at repeating other words that hears too.
Kelly and Eli went to San Diego this week and visited some friends and family. Aunt Tonita took them out to lunch at Emma's (Mexican food). This is where we discovered Eli's love of Horchata. It started with a little sip of Kelly's, and then a few more. When all of Kelly's Horchata was gone, he charmed Aunt Tonita with his "please" and "more" signs until she gave in and shared hers. Aunt Tonita also taught Eli how to say Horchata and he said it the whole way home!
The next evening Kelly was in another taco shop (gotta get the Mexican food while in San Diego!) Eli spotted a guy drinking from a plain white Styrofoam cup (the same cup that his horchata was served in the day for) Eli immediately pointed to the cup and frantically started signing "please" and "more". Kelly, of course, gave-in and ordered one for him. He seriously drank about 12oz and wasn't showing any signs of slowing-down, when Kelly finally had to pry the precious drink from his hands! Had to save room for that burrito!
If only you could see the photos ~sigh~
